A Simple Invitation
Hi <Name>
As you may know, I am an enthusiastic open networker. I like to meet and help people whom I have something in common with.
I don’t ask for introductions, but would rather connect up with people who want to be connected up.
However, I will normally forward on appropriate requests for invitations.
I have started Linkedin Toronto – so there are great opportunities to meet for a Latte and to generate real revenue here.
Contact me if you want to be kept up to date on things that are happening.
Please check out my profile at www.linkedin.com/in/ZaleTabakman
If you think I can give you hand with something, please drop me a line.
If you dont think I can help – Drop me a line anyways.
Take Care

University Invitation
Hi <Name>
Its seems we were at Western at the same time. That was a fun time. I was at Saugeen in first year and loved dancing to Bat out of Hell and seeing Rocky Horror Picture Show.
My kids think I am nuts when it plays on the radio now.
I watch for new members from Western and like to greet them. Sort of like a doorman if you will.

I really, really like the approach of creating different invitations for different groups of people — it’s exactly what I do and one of the approaches we talk about in our Fast Company article, I Am Not A Number!, about how to avoid online networking becoming impersonal and dehumanizing.
I don’t think you have to personalize each and every single invitation you send — it’s nice if you have the time, but really not necessary. Thanks for championing this approach and providing some great examples.
