Maria is a member of the “Nueva Esperanza” Communal Bank which is made up of 10 enterprising women.
For more than 2 years, Maria has prepared and sold tamales to people in her community. She tells us that she also, with the help of her husband, has been able to start a small business selling children’s clothes, which has had a positive effect on her and her family for it has enabled her to have extra income.
Sra. Maria is the mother of 6 children and at the age of 58 has been able to get ahead and to provide for her children’s education. With the loan she is requesting she will be able to buy supplies for her sale of tamales such as corn, meat, butter, eggs and olives.
Maria wants to finish working on her house since it needs a new roof and she also wants to have a grocery store where she can sell staples.
The “Nueva Esperanza” Communal Bank is a responsible group and they have not had any problems with payments. She is grateful for the support and the confidence placed in her. Sra. Maria del Rosario could not be present for the group photo because of work obligations.
