What is Three Feet From Gold all about?

In 1937, Napoleon Hill wrote a masterpiece that has sold over 16 million copies and still remains a bestseller today. Think and Grow Rich inspires readers who want to learn the success strategies used by leaders and experts throughout the world. The lives of many people have been improved after reading the book that it continues to sell more than a million copies every year.

Think and Grow Rich is quoted by almost every great and successful person of the twentieth and the twenty-first century. Once a person makes the choice to be successful – its only a matter of time until they discover and read the Think and Grow Rich.

In the first chapter of the book Napoleon Hill tells a story that introduces many of the themes of the book:

“An uncle of my friend R. U. Darby was caught by ‘gold fever’ and he went west to Colorado to dig and grow rich. He had never heard that more gold has been mined from the thoughts of men than has ever been taken from the earth.”

The uncle did find gold. He rushed home to tell about his good fortune. After gathering funds and assistance from his family, friends, and neighbors, he returned to his claim to mine the fortunes that lay beneath the surface.

“Down went the drills. Up went the hopes. . .” Unfortunately, the gold disappeared. Darby and his uncle continued, desperately, to dig, attempting to pick up the vein again, but to no avail. The uncle was soon overwhelmed with frustration and quit working the claim.

Defeated, they sold the machinery to a local junk man for a few hundred dollars and took the next train heading east.

Realizing the mine had once produced treasure, the junk man sought the counsel of a local engineer. The engineer explained how the fault line can separate a vein of gold. He suggested that if the junk man returned to the mine and dug a mere three feet from where the first discovery was made, he would find more precious ore.

With pick in hand, the junk man followed the expert’s advice and hit one of the greatest gold stores the nation has ever seen.

The junkman took millions of dollars in ore from the mine because he knew enough to seek expert counsel before giving up.

Darby eventually recovered from his own losses from the mine bust, but he did not forget about the huge fortune he and his uncle had missed simply because they gave up too soon and didn’t seek expert advice. Darby said, “I stopped three feet from gold, but I will never stop because men say no when I ask them to buy insurance.”

Darby ended up selling over a million dollars in life insurance each year for most of his career. He realized that before one can succeed, he or she will face defeat, even failure. Most people quit, but the successful push past defeat to realize their dreams.

Taking to heart the lesson that “more gold has been mined from the thoughts of men than has ever been take from the earth,” Hill went on a quest to interview his era’s top leaders to discover what attitudes and behaviors they applied to their achievements. Speaking with people such as Edison, Bell, and Ford, Hill discovered a set of principles (referred to as “gold nuggets”) that were printed in book form. From these interviews, Hill established the modern movement in personal development.

Teaming with the Napoleon Hill Foundation, Greg Reid is blessed to carry on the tradition by inviting a new group of leaders to be interviewed. These “movers and shakers” share the principles, values, and attitudes they use to continue drilling toward their goals. More important, their insights will inspire readers to work through adversities and setbacks, to make sure they don’t quit—three feet from gold.

The list of people interviewed by Greg includes successful men and women from business, sports, academia, modern and classical music, philosophy, publishing, TV, and film.

Now readers from around the world will unwrap the teachings of Napoleon Hill through the contemporary story of one man’s quest to uncover the keys to success from current leaders and luminaries.

Three Feet from Gold is the story of Mike Vas, a fictional character, who, at a low point in his life, was given an unexpected opportunity to sit across from some of the most successful people alive today.

Imagine the opportunity of a lifetime delivered to you by one person’s mistake.

In a rush, a coat-checker gave a customer the wrong coat. However, this was no ordinary coat—it belonged to the one person who was willing and able to deliver the principles needed to attain success, happiness and fulfillment in a young man’s life.

A business card inside of the misplaced jacket identified its owner as Jon Buckland, one of the most successful people in the world. While Mike was tempted to keep the garment for himself, he realized a greater opportunity lay with meeting the owner if Mike returned the lost item.

Buckland was pleased that Mike was honest enough to correct the mistake, so much so, that Buckland decided to offer his personal assistance to help the young man prosper—the kind of assistance Andrew Carnegie once gave one of his student so many years ago.

Three Feet from Gold creates new classic by including insights from current captains of success by providing the principles in an accessible story.

Let’s see some samples from the film Three Feet From Gold that created the book.

Meet David Liniger – Founder of Re/Max – and learn from him how he got past the point being (a) $600,000 in debt (b) starting a business in the middle of recession, (c) financial backers bailing (d) everybody in his industry against him, and (e) his market collapsing.

Meet Jahja Ling Jahja’s distinguished career as an internationally renowned conductor has earned him an exceptional reputation for musical integrity, intensity and expressivity.

Meet John St Augustine - Executive Director of Oprah and Friends – and how he overcomes adversity.

Three Feet From Gold has been compared to The Secret – so let’s hear from Richard Cohen The Producer of The Secret and how his passion made him an overnight success after 23 years almost going bankrupt.

Getting the book published was not easy. Greg also had to keep going past the point where he wanted to stop. In this trailer let’s go with Greg and see how he had to overcome his own challenges getting the book published.

And yes – its the latest and greatest trailer….

Now is your chance to meet Greg and and ask him about his experiences creating Three Feet From Gold.

John Schwarz (Co-creator ‘Super String Theory’)John Schwarz (Co-creator ‘Super String Theory’)

Elaborating on Einstein’s theory, John and his partner Dr. Green proposed reinterpreting string theory as a candidate for a unified theory of gravity and the other fundamental forces….naming it Super string theory.

Considered “preposterous” within the science community, they professed their innovative findings for over a decade to deaf ears.

Each year they uncovered new innovations that they felt would convince other physicists of the virtue of their findings. This did not happen until after a discovery made in the summer of 1984, which showed how certain apparent inconsistencies, called anomalies, could be avoided. Suddenly the subject became very fashionable and is now one of the most active areas of research in theoretical physics.
