Job Hunting Resources – Get the Job You Really Want

in Brian Tracy,Dr. Charles Lankford,Goals,Job Hunting,Richard Nelson Bolles

When a person needs a job for financial stability they are willing to take almost any job. It doesn’t matter if the job hunter has a degree in computer science or a high school diploma. They just want a job. This leads to two problems, they search in twenty-five different directions at once and they take a job rather than get the job they are perfect for.

In fact, the best way and the fastest way to get a job, is to focus on the job you really want and are really good for.

The problem of searching in twenty-five different directions is really about not having a real deep and specific idea of what you want. While almost everybody can list of things in general, it gets really tough to narrow down your choices.

I have identified and vetted a number of resources that will do some of the work of job hunting for you. I do not guarantee any of these organizations. I would like to send me feedback on any of these resources, so that I can share your experiences with other people. Check them all out and then select the one that will work best for your particular needs.

Set Goals One part of getting the Job your really want is to understand that you need to find a job that will move you closer to your goals. If you don’t have clear cut long term goals, then you will take a job to solve your immediate problems. While its solves the current stress, and that will give relief, but to remove the problem from the future, its better to select a job that moves you closer to your longer term goals.

A problem, I see constantly, while people seem to know what they want, they have not translated that into goals.

The Goal Setting Resources can help you create and achieve meaningful goals.

What Color Is Your Parachute? Is probably the best book on Job Hunting. Its been around for 30 years or so and is updated every year. Richard and I differ a bit on the importance of the Internet. But we certainly agree completely on the importance of knowing what you want. The majority of the book focuses on figuring out what you would be great at and how to find it.

This assessment identifies your personality type.
