If The Law Of Attraction is a new concept to you, I strongly advise that you get your own copy of The Secret.

My friend and business partner Taimour from The Access Group gave me a copy. It camescien just when I needed it.
(a small joke for people who have seen the video)

To make a powerful and involved process simple, The “Law Of Attraction” states that anything that happens to you comes because it is attracted to you through your thoughts. Practically speaking, this means if you expect trouble – you get trouble. If you expect good things to happen, good things happen. The main explanation to “The Law Of Attraction” is that the universe changes to provide you what you attract. stHence my small joke.

Before we go to far –

I believe in The Law Of Attraction and you should too.

However, many people who see a contradiction with “The Law Of Attraction” and reality.

There are those who are at odds with its existence. For example Ming The Mechanic, Naoshi on Vox, and The Scratching Post. Basically, they believe there is no way to prove “The Law of Attraction” works or doesn’t work. Simplified, the proof for “The Law Of Attraction” goes like this – If you don’t believe in it, that’s why things bad things happen. If you do believe in it and good things don’t happen, then you didn’t have complete focus. Effectively there is no proof.

A criticism was mentioned by Steve Pavlin (who is a fellow believer) says: If a child is abused, does that mean the child intended it in some way?

One of my friends criticized it by stating – What happens if somebody focuses on something totally impossible? For example, a fifty year old over-weight guy wanting to play in the NBA?

Many Bloggers give deep metaphysical answers to this quandary. Since I can’t understand most of what they are writing – I prefer a practical solution that will work for me today.

The problem with the above complaints about “The Law Of Attraction”, is that they take it too literally, meaning its a “Law” or they don’t have enough faith in themselves.

The first is easy to explain. Any physical law, such as “The Law Of Attraction” is only a theory that explains our current understanding of reality. For example, “The Law Of Gravity”, “Natural Selection”, “Every action has an equal and opposite reaction”, E=MC2. All these “Laws” are theories that explain natural phenomenon. They are not proven in any literal sense. Experiments are performed, results are observed, and theories are agreed upon. We can “trust” these laws, because it allows engineers to build buildings, it allows man to fly, it allows us to study nature. Science uses this approach to move forward. Many scientific “Laws” have been discredited over the years. Its doesn’t discredit science – it just demonstrates that these laws enable society to advance.

The “Law of Attraction” is the same. Its a theory that works in our world with our current understanding of the world.

So why does it work and why should you take it to heart?

  1. You will continually make the choices that gets what you want. For example: if your focus is on getting a Saturn Sky (a great boy toy), instead of going to see a movie you will put in the time to make a few more sales calls, send a few more e-mails, or put another entry into your blog. For more discussion on making choices – see my article Choosing Success.
  2. Your mind will open up to new choices. When a new or different opportunity comes along, you will ask yourself the question – “Will this get me what I want sooner rather than later?” It will push you beyond your comfort zone.
  3. Your friends can help you. People are wonderful. I am continually amazed at how helpful people are in helping me achieve my goals. If I tell them what I want to achieve, they will many times help in different ways that I couldn’t have imagined. The larger the goal, the more they are willing to help. But be careful, simply tell people what your goal is, not how they should help you. That way they will feel ownership in helping you achieve your goal.
  4. You won’t give up in the face of challenge. Each and every one of us has faced challenges on achieving our goals. And whenever you have met your goal – you can always look back and see that no matter how bleak things looked at some point, you were successful because You Did Not Give Up.
  5. A bonus for fellow religious types. It says in Pirkei Avos [2:21] (“The Ethics of Our Fathers”) “You are not required to complete the task, but yet you are not free to withdraw from it” This Mishna refers specifically to the study of Torah – I also take it less more metaphysically – it is my responsibility to start everything – if its important to be completed the Master of the Universe’s will ensure it finishes. If I don’t take my responsibility to start – he won’t help.

So, the first step in achieving your goal is to start believing in “The Law Of Attraction”.

The law of attraction is not new. Its all about the first step in becoming successful. Everybody who has ever studied Success has come to the conclusion that the first step in becoming successful is all about setting and achieving goals. Napoleon Hill refers to it as Creating A Definite Purpose in Life. Stephen Covey speaks in his seven habits of highly effective people about “Starting with end in mind”. Brian Tracy believes that if you were to do only one single activity each day, it must be goal setting. Brian Tracy is the only writer I have discovered (at the time of this writing) who has a formal approach to goal setting. You can learn more about Brian Tracy and his The Ultimate Goal Program here.

You can find my own approach to setting goals and achieving them here.

What if you are already into goal setting and understand and believe in it?

Bob Proctor and Jack Canfield have collaborated to produce a wealth building program called “the Secret Science of Getting Rich Seminar”. This program is based on the book that inspired the movie. You can get a number of free lessons and learn about the program here.

Then the next step is to start building the different skills you need to achieve the goals you have set for yourself.

By the way, Brian Tracy thinks its a bit of hooey. Read his response to the secret here.

Thanks for the link. That was a very kind thing to do, particularly considering the content of my post.

There has been some scientific proof that thoughts can affect energy and the physical world. This was outlined in the movie “What The Bleep Do We Know”. Experiments were conducted on the effects of thought waves on water. Quantum Physics is proving the “Law of Attraction” everyday.

I am a fundamental pessimist. How can i make the law of attraction work for me? Even if I try to be as positive as possible, I always doubt about things(myself, situation…) What’s the first step for me to change my thoughts if my subconscious is more powerfull then my will?

[Response From Zale]

I suggest that you work on changing your self perception into one that assumes everything is going to work out.

Let me help you by restating your question.

“I want to be become an optimist. How can I start making the law of attraction to work for me? When I try to be as positive as possible, I am aware of the problems that can occur? What is the first step for me to change my thoughs if my subconcious is more powerful than my will?”

The second thing I suggest is to to use your subconcious to help you.

Start by
a) Decide on 5 things that you want for 2007.
b) Write these things down.
eg:

I want a Staturn SKY – if its tangible – get a picture to go with it.
I want to weigh 120 pounds.
I want to read “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill.
I want customers to call me.
I want to make $100,000 this year.
I want my children to glady clean their rooms.

c) Read them every morning. This should take about a minute and half.
d) Share them with as many people as you can.
e) MAKE THIS WANTS an obsession.

Within a week, you will find that your subconcious is helping you. You will come up with ideas, you will see new opportunities.

I have some insight into the controversy about whether children attract abuse. Overly sensitive children tend to have over-sensitive parents. Because these sensitive individuals are so deeply affected by the energies of others, they wish to control them and can fly into a rage when they feel they are being controlled by others.

So the Father, feeling controlled by work or other outside influences, brings that fear and rage home. The over-sensitive child feels that energy and thinks of prior times when the Father took those feelings out on the child. The child’s fear then attracts more of the same. So, yes, the child does attract what they perceive to be abuse.

The behavior of an adult when directed at another adult or at a less sensitive child may seem acceptable. That same behavior directed at a sensitive child can result in a child that is terrified of the parent and others who behave in that manner.

This becomes a cycle that is passed from generation to generation. Often the Mother, feeling overwhelmed herself and in an attempt to protect herself, will deflect the Father’s energy onto the child or children.

All involved in this are doing the best they know how and can at the time. Many take years or even decades to become aware of, uncover, accept, and release these buried emotions. These are the blockages that prevent attracting what we wish.

Where no negative programming exists, what we think about can come quickly to us. Where there are buried negative belief systems, those conflicting thoughts keep what we consciously desire away from us.

I am still seeking an immediate healing from such beliefs. As I type this I desire to be free of all blockages and allow the energies of others to pass through me and be immediately released.

[Zale's Response]

Thank you for sharing this with us.

I think your thoughts are quite profound. I especially feel your comment All involved in this are doing the best they know how and can at the time. explains where you are coming from. It tells me that you are understanding of the source of the problem.

I do however beleive it is vitaly important that while we can recognize that some people are trying to do their best, that does not releive them from responsibility for their choices/actions. I believe every one of us must always be aware of their actions and be sensitive to the effect they have on others. If somebody is being hurt by our actions on continuous basis, we are responsible for those actions and we must seek solutions to stop it.

There is a saying “Set your goals high, but not out of sight”.

When I was a kid and spent summer time at my grandmother’s house, once she told me that “a man with a dream is always stronger than the one without a dream”.
I tried to think those words over and came to a conclusion that
all our plans, wishes and goals come from our dreams (the ones with think and dream about every day).
Walt Disney said, “If you can dream it, you can do it”. And he made the world of his dreams a reality.

And to those who are keen on the laws of physics, what about the Law of the Concervation of Energy? If you think positive, you give your energy out, as a consequence, some energy should come in. So, “the law of attraction” should have worked!

Being too technical while explaining ‘Law of attraction’ will only make people confused. I was too before I really graspped the point and indeed, there are still a lot to be learnt. You just got it right and straigt to the point.

Another point regarding the law of attraction. You must go beyond thinking and get emotional with what you want. It is not enough to think and say it, you must feel it, as if it was true today.

Whatever it is you want, close your eyes and imagine how you would feel if you were already in that space. That will speed up the process. It is also important to remember that attitude is vital. And what is attitude? Attitude are your thoughts which lead to your feelings which lead to your actions and then your results.

Read “As a Man Thinketh” by James Allen and “The Science Of Getting Rich” by Wattles. Watch “The Secret”, it explains it all. It is so simple but not easy. It takes time and when you thing you understand you find out that there is so much more. You only understand something when you can explain it to someone else so that that they can explain it to someone else.

[ZT - Excellent. I was watching the You Tube video the Ellen show where she had Bob Proctor and John Assaraf.
They summarized it well. I also watched the Larry King Show where he interviewed a number of people from The Secret. Joe Vitale makes the emotional case extremely well. You can find the two Larry King shows at Here ]

I thought you and your readers might be interested in this…

The Oprah broadcast of “The Secret” will be February 8th. I also just found out that it will be followed by an International Law of Attraction Teleconference. If you want more info go to http://www.lawofattractionteleconference.com.

Also, the more posts that Oprah gets on her message boards about a particular topic, the more inclined she is to repeat the topic. So go to http://www.oprah.com and find the message board for The Secret to let her know that you want more of the same!

The Law of Attraction is not just a theory – IT IS TRUE! Some credit Isaac Newton, but I credit Jesus Christ when he said “as a man thinketh – so is he” meaning what you think about you become. Such is the Law of Attraction. By focusing strongly on something, you set into motion the events that will lead to attracting it. If you’re truly a pessimist, you’ll find negative things happening because your focus is on not believing (or allowing), so your vibration level is lowered.

As an experiment try this: pick something that you want; a specific amount of money, time, event, condition or whatever. Make it big enough that you’ll know you set the process in motion, but small enough that you can believe it is at least possible for you. (If you order a Million dollars and you’ve never had more than $50 in your savings account, you probably won’t be able to believe you could set things in motion for you to receive $1M) Then, write your order clearly, specifically and in the present tense, (I have…). Paint a picture of it in words and put the paper in your wallet with your cash. Each time you use your wallet, take the note out and read it quickly and consciously say something positive about how you’ll feel when it happens.

No negativity or you’ll cancel the order, and only you can know the truth about this.

Remember what the note says and see the picture you created when you wrote it. Remember – the universe runs on its own clock and there may be many things that have to happen before you receive your order. By frequently reading the note, you re-energize the order and you’ll be aware of it when you finally get it. Often, our orders are received camaflouged as part of something else or as something unexpected. You need to keep your order “Top of Mind” until it happens. Generally speaking, the better you can do this, the faster your order will arrive.

[ZT- While I won't comment on the religious reference. I want to re-affirm that I don't agree with the vibration theory, but I do most definitely agree with your experiment. Does it really matter, why it works?]

As a follow-up to the Oprah show about “The Secret” last week…

There were two free International Law of Attraction Teleconferences held last week which were a big hit and attended by people in 7 different time zones. So, there will be two more FREE teleconferences this week. The link for those is http://lawofattractionteleconference.com.

Also, Oprah will repeat topics when she receives a large volume of responses to any particular show. So if we want to see more Law of Attraction on Oprah (which would be an amazingly positive thing for the planet), then we need to post on her message board to let her know.

I think it’s safe to say that “The Secret” is out!

If I had to sum the entire thing up, it’s that the Law of Attraction
is all about alignment. You’ve got to do the “work” if you want to
bring something info your life.

This is where I think people mess up, which gives the entire thing the
“MLM/Amway” kind of vibe. You can’t just sit around eating junk food
and watching reruns and expect to live on the beach…regardless of what
the infomercials say.

People like Joe Vitale are out working. Bob Proctor is out working.
James Ray is out working.

This thing works! I saw Oprah’s show then started thinking how it could relate to things I had encountered before seeing the show just to know if it was bogus or not.

Well, small things like wanting a certain kind of surfboard, or looking for a certain vehicle to buy had happened a few months before.

I would envision the board I wanted..a 9′ triple-stringer nose rider (thought) then I imagined riding it (feel) and started keeping an eye out for it in want ads and surf shops. Took me almost two months but I found it.

I was in the market for a SUV to take the place of my sports car and beach van…one car does all! I kept thinking about this one model I liked and kept shopping around and finally bought one after a month of thought, feel then action (buy).

Coincidence? I dunno! Now I’m trying to focus on a beautiful surfer girl coming into my life who doesn’t mind a SUV instead of a convertible, who can catch some waves with me….I’ll let you know in a month or so!! :0)

I personally think that at a deeper level “The Law of Attraction” operates at our sub-conscious. Many of us are unaware that what we say or think are invariably programming our sub-conscious blueprint! A good example is that what we say or do in the day affects our dream at night … and that is “Law of Attraction” operating! The Secret is about an hour and a half movie and hence, it is simply not possible to discuss the topic in depth.
