Do’s
- Have lots of business cards
- Wear your name tag on your right hand side
- LADIES – Wear your tag VERY high. For gentlemen, it makes it embarresing to look at a low tag.
- Don’t sit with the people you know – sit with whom you don’t know.
- Hand out cards immediately to each person at the table
- READ the person’s card
- You have TWO ears and ONE mouth – Listen twice as much as you speak
- Do be interested in what people say
- Dress a little above where you are comfortable – PEOPLE DO JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER
- Speak politely to everybody you meet. Including the staff. They work hard for a low wage and so its harder for them than for you.
- Have fun and smile
- Share a good story with people
- Followup with everybody you meet with an e-mail with something of interest
- Try to collect a small number of cards – max of 5. That way you will have an impact on a number of people. If you do that 5 times a week – you have 25 contacts after a month 100 contacts. Each of whom you have had an impact on.
Don’ts
- I don’t like being negative – just follow the do’s
