Have you ever sat around having a pizza with people in your office?
I would be shocked if you haven’t.
Have you ever thought to take of advantage of it?
Here are two ways to take advantage of it.
Order a Pizza for a company to be delivered to you outside the office.
Have an envelope prepared with “Compliments of Zale Tabakman – see enclosed” – use your name on top of it.
Walk in with the Pizza and give it to the receptionist with explicit instructions “Pizza for Bob Smith” or who ever is the prime person you are trying to connect with. The hiring authority or top HR person.
Tape the envelope to top of the pizza box.
If you are sending it to the HR department – the envelope should include your resume, cover letter, and some other printed content you have created.
If you are sending it to the technical staff – the envelope should include some of the white papers you have witten.
What do you think the people will be reading when they are eating the Pizza you have given them?
Action Steps:
- The pizza technique works great with technology firms, ad agencies, high growth firms, or any leading edge companies.
- Make sure you call ahead to ensure the hiring authority is in – why waste a pizza?
- Check for food allergies or special dietary concerns like Kosher, Halal, Vegetarian, or diabetes.
- Have it arrive at 11:30 before they leave for lunch.
- Order an Extra Large – its better a larger pizza than more toppings.
- Include a few cans of soda.
