If you are a regular reader of the 77 Guerrilla Job Hunt Tips, you know there are many more ways to get a job than a simple cover letter and resume.
We are going start looking at applying some pure marketing techniques in the last twelve or so articles.
Hang on to your hats, don’t worry we will start gentle, but it will take you outside your job hunting comfort zone.
Why do you need to send somebody a resume?
Who made that rule?
I certainly didn’t and I am certain you didn’t.
So why do you need to follow that rule?
Here is another rule about job hunting that doesn’t seem to make sense.
Who said you have to send contact the employer – why can’t somebody call you?
Why not do a brochure instead of a resume?
Approach the job hunt as a method to find temporary or contract work which you can convert using some other Guerrilla Job Search System techniques into a full-time position.
Using direct mail techniques – described all over ZaleTabakman.ca – send the brochure to your target group, offering your services on a contract basis.
Your front cover needs to speak to their needs.
Profile your projects and accomplishments in the inside pages.
The inside flap should have some quotes from your references and the back panel for your mini bio and contact information.
Include a photo if you’re good looking.
Reference the white papers you have written or any of the other content you have created using the Guerrilla Job Search System techniques.
Action Steps:
- Hand address the envelope you mail it in
- Buy glossy brochure paper which will run through your laser printer from stores like Office Max and Business Depot.
- You can lay it out easily in Microsoft Publisher or a similar program.
