Companies send online surveys out all the time and they offer a free gift as a way of thanking the person.
The online survey usually has four to five screens to complete and if you know the company or are interested in the free gift, people will spend five minutes filling out the survey.
Why don’t you do a similar thing?
Send a survey on hiring trends and target employers you’re interested in.
You can ask an almost limitless number of questions which could reveal their hiring intentions
Tell them its part of your job hunting effort and would they mind helping out.
For the right people, do it backwards, send the gift first.
The survey question are to help you figure out who is hiring and why.
Action Steps:
- Send the gift only to hiring managers and not to Human Resources.
- Keep it small – because it can get expensive
- Expect a 2 to 5% return – 2 to 5 people for every 100 you send out.
- Never send alcohol or food which could spoil.
- Think about sharing the cost with several other people looking for jobs with the same companies.
- Send your resume to whichever department they indicate is hiring.
- A gift need not be an item you buy, it could be one of the white papers you’ve prepared – send it bound, not PDF.
- Give an Eat Sleep Geek Product From Cafe Press to give out.
- Don’t forget to use the results of the survey in other white papers.

This article is just a small sample of how you can do to take control of your Job hunt and make it effective. I work closely with the two experts in the field, Kevin Donlin and David Perry, co-creators of the Guerrilla Job Search System.
Job hunters who use “Click and Apply” wonder why they are not getting interviews and ultimately taking far too long to get a job. I hope you are not using “Click and Apply” as your major tactic. You have many more strategies and tactics to make an effective job hunt.
The only Job Hunting system I recommend is the Guerrilla Job Search System.
The system works, because it helps you do what you do best. Kevin and David have been interviewed by Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Fortune magazine, and the Christian Science Monitor about their method to finding a job.
Go right now and listen to a sample of how Kevin and David will get your job search into high gear
If you want to know why I think the Guerrilla Job Search System is so effective for job hunters read my review of it here.
