I am currently writing – Zale Tabakman teaches Napoleon Hills Law of Success – The Master Mind as a companion to the CD available on Itunes.com and AmazonMP3.com and I would like to share some of the content from the section called Creating Your Own Master Mind.
As you will learn in the coming books, there are multiple ways for you to create your own Master Mind. Each student of Napoleon Hill will need to define their own approach for their own needs.
Here are a few ideas to get you started. The Resources guide [A companion guide to the CD and book] has a few more.
In Think And Grow Rich. Napoleon Hill describes how he has different people sitting in a room discussing an issue. He then turns to the people and asks them what they think of a particular situation and they give him a response. But, everybody in the room has been dead for many years. At first glance this seems strange, but in reality its not.
Each of the people described by Napoleon Hill have left a legacy behind them. The legacy includes books and articles they wrote, biographies, and newspaper articles to say the least. While these materials don’t provide everything there is to know about a person, they can give a sense of what the person thinks is important, how they phrase their thoughts, and what they think of as a priority.
So with some reasonable amount of effort a person can become familiar with anybody of substance. With Napoleon Hill, for example, there is tremendous amount of material available. After completing the Law of Success, Think and Grow Rich, and a few other books, you can ask yourself the question, “What advice would Napoleon Hill give me.”.
My version of Napoleon Hill’s Master Mind concepts has three critical elements to make it work.
The first is that I have a roster of people from whim I select for a specific project, a specific goal, or a specific problem.
The second is that each member of My Master Mind joins for the specific purpose of helping me meet my goals. Yes, its all about me. And if they want me as part of their Master Mind to help them, I will do that. But, I understand that the goal is to help them meet their goals when we are doing their Master Mind work.
The last element, is that each member of my Master Mind gets something out of being a member. It might be financial reward, it might be personal satisfaction, or it can be something that is of importance to them.
My roster is just like a Baseball team roster, I select individuals that are appropriate to the game and situation at hand. Let me describe to you some of the more well known people in my roster. I will try to give you a sense of these people, what motivates them, and what I look to get from them. Be aware, I have only chosen to highlight one of their strengths to share and I have only given you a sampling of my roster. To be invited to my Master Mind, you need to be multidimensional person and have a clear affinity with my values.
For every issue, both business and personal, I immediately turn to the late Rabbi Raphael Marcus. I felt he was one of the most intelligent and balanced individuals I have ever met. He was the essence of sensitivity to people. When I have a problem, I think of the kind of advice he would give to me, the kinds of questions he would ask, and what he would try to achieve in the outcome.
I am proud to have Napoleon Hill on my roster. Through his written materials he has clearly identified what is important for a person to do and act. As you will learn through the Law of Success, he was focused on accurate thinking. Through the Law of Success he demonstrates how that accurate thinking needs to be applied to different problems.
I turn to Andrew Carnegie when trying to create situations where I need to achieving my goals by helping others achieve theirs. Carnegie’s as a person was always upbeat and looking for the opportunity to help others.
One person who I turn to frequently is Dan Kennedy. Dan Kennedy is master of direct marketing and building a profitable business. I listen to his tapes, read his books, and get his newsletters. For any marketing problem, I can almost imagine what he would say.
Donald Trump and Robert Kiyosaki are two that sort of go together, because of their book We Want You To Get Rich. The book is a good overview of their approach to business and wealth. Donald Trump is famous for many things, most recently The Apprentice. Robert Kiyosaki is well know for his philosophy described in Rich Dad, Poor Dad. From these two gentlemen, I learn to think in terms of assets that generate revenue.
My library is another source of my Master Mind. I have books from dozens of authors. Each book provides an insight, an idea, or a path to follow. So when I am stuck looking for a solution, I start to flip through the books looking for some thoughts on how to approach the situation. My library is large enough, that an idea always comes.
I make sure I have business partners on every project. These partners are interested in my success, because the success works for them as well. They are part of my Master Mind.
Some important members of my roster are the many friends that I speak and associate with. These are people from all walks of life. I will touch them in many different ways, and I am always asking about their life and what they are doing. When they share their stories, I try to apply some of the lessons to my projects. Sometimes, when asked, I share my thoughts and ideas. During the sharing process, I put thoughts into words, and many times the answers were right in front of me.
The last source of people for my roster are the 13,000,000 people I am connected to on www.linkedin.com. LinkedIn.com is a free social network focusing on creating business relationships. Membership is free and there are number of ways of connecting with people.
I have found a number of different business partners through my activities on LinkedIn and I know others have as well.
LinkedIn has a special section in it called LinkedIn Answers. This is a forum to post questions and receive answers from people all over the world. I make frequent use of this facility to receive thoughts and ideas on a particular question. The question must be phrased in a manner that is not personal, but something that would be interesting to everybody. You can find many of the answers I have collected on www.ZaleTabakman.ca/stories
