Hello Everyone,

I try to continually improve myself everyday by just a little bit each day.

As usual, we need to start by having “Fun with numbers.”

  • I figure if I am better one minute each day than I was the day before.
  • At the end of the week – I have improved by 7 minutes.
  • By the end of the month – I have improved by about 1/2 hour.
  • By the end of the year – I have improved by about 6 hours.
  • Since I sleep about 6 hours a night. That means a 33% improvement in my self by the end of the year.
  • Therefore, every 3 years I have done a total improvement on all my waking hours.

Now – that doesn’t mean I am even close to perfect. It just means I am a doing better (according to my measures of success) than I was every year.

So what are some of the ways do I do it?

  1. I try to learn by reading proven speakers and writers.
I try to read one chapter of a self improvement book every time I go to the bathroom.
  2. One goal is to learn from mentors.
Whenever possible I try to attend lectures offered by people with proven track records.
  3. I have ears and one mouth. I try to listen twice as much as I talk.
  4. I try to improve spiritually. My method is to try to complete a page of Talmud everyday. Its called Daf Yomi (A page of Talmud a Day). The wisdom of the Jewish Sages are so clear and the impact so perfect its unbelievable.
  5. I try to learn from every mistake I make. And everyday I make a mistake. A mistake means that I made a decision or did something that did not work out the way I wanted it to. It is only a mistake if I had the knowledge to do it better.
  6. I try very hard to make everybody I meet smile and feel encouraged about what they are doing. My latest “thing”

The reason I underlined the word try was because that is all that anybody can possibly do. While we are created in Gd’s image – we are not divine, so we are not perfect and its unreasonable to expect perfection.

I don’t succeed 100% at at most things I try to do. However, I do accomplish a large amount of things.get somewhere in the 85% or better.
